      HELP/FAQ'S: Troubleshooting Connection Problems

Assuming that you have successfully logged on to the Internet (and are up-to-date on your payments with us), here are some troubleshooting tips if you have trouble accessing your web site or your account.
I can access my Internet provider's web site but not others:
Your provider may have lost their connection to the Internet. Contact them to let them know of the problem.
I can reach other web sites on the Internet but not my site on Stingray:
There may be a router down or overloaded router somewhere on the Internet in the path that connects your Internet Provider to us. You can do a traceroute to your domain name and see if there is any problem between your providers routers and here. If you see a row of stars "* * *" or "!H" in the traceroute, this could indicate a slow router for the former or a downed router for the latter.
I uploaded my new web page(s) but the old page(s) still show up:
There are 2 possible causes:
  1. Your files were uploaded to the wrong directory. All files for your web site must be placed in the public_html directory of your account.
  2. Your web browser is storing old copies of your web site in the browser cache. You will need to clear your browser cache in order to see the changes you have made.
I get a "login failure" or "password incorrect" error, or a "Forbidden" error message when trying to access my web site:
Be sure to enter your username in all lowercase letters, and just use your username (not your e-mail address) in your FTP software.

We may also have temporarily (or permanently) deactivated your account for one of the following reasons: illegal/prohibited activities or content, overdue payment, over your disk quota after several warnings, bulk e-mailing from the server, or other disruptive or prohibited use of our servers.

I get a "no DNS entry":
It's possible that your Domain Name renewal fee is overdue and the registry whom you registered your Domain Name through has suspended your Domain Name. Once you make your payment, it usually takes about 48 hours for the Domain Name to fully re-activate again.
